Gulf of Thailand (GOT) Subregional Workshop and National Contact Points Meeting

The Viet Nam National Southern Southern Oil Spill Response Centre or NASOS will play host to the Subregional Workshop on Developing the Subregional Contingency Plan and Guidelines in the Use of Dispersants in the Gulf of Thailand (GOT). It will be held back-to-back with the 11th Annual National Contact Points (NCP) Meeting of the three littoral states - Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam - bordering the GOT.

November 10, 2017

The Subregional Workshop and Meeting will be held in Da Nang, Viet Nam from the 13th to the 15th of November 2017. The aim of the workshop is to strengthen regional cooperation on oil spill response preparedness between the three countries and to support the Framework Programme for Joint Oil Spill Preparedness and Response in the Gulf of Thailand adopted in January 2006.

It is organized in collaboration with PEMSEA (Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia), which is an intergovernmental organization in East Asia focusing on healthy and resilient oceans, coasts, communities and economies across the region.

The Workshop program will be supported by an expert from OSRL (Oil Spill Response Limited), granted through the IPIECA Oil Spill Working Group (OSWG). IPIECA is a non-country partner of PEMSEA and supports its Gulf of Thailand (GOT) Subregional Oil Spill Programme and other environmental initiatives. The GISEA Project Manager will be presenting on updates on the ASEAN Regional Plan and on oil spill preparedness in the region. GISEA coordinates the activities and assistance provided by the OSWG through its programme in the Southeast Asian region.
