IPIECA, IMO and GlSEA attend IOSC 2017

IPIECA, IMO and GISEA attended the largest oil spill conference of the year: the 2017 International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC) and Exhibition.

May 22, 2017

The event took place from 15-18 May and is part of the Triennial Conference Series. It attracted over 1,500 delegates from around the world at the Long Beach Convention Centre near Los Angeles in California to network, present, and exhibit on preparing for and responding to oil spills.

The GISEA Project Manager, Joselito Guevarra, presented the paper on The Journey to Regional Preparedness in Southeast Asia under the Global Perspectives session. Founding member IPIECA is a sponsor in this year’s IOSC and hosted the opening reception. At the closing plenary on the Thursday afternoon, IPIECA along with other key global organizations such as IMO and ITOPF will participated in the panel session. IPIECA shared an exhibition booth with Oil Spill Response Limited, The Sea Alarm Foundation and the Global Response network (GRN).

The International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC) provides a key forum for professionals from the international response community, private sector, government, and non-governmental organizations to convene on one of the greatest challenges facing the oil and gas industry. This conference is an ideal environment for government agencies, contractors, researchers, industry, and other stakeholders to work together toward mutual objectives, through the exchange of ideas and lessons learned from actual spill responses and research around the world.
