The 46th ASEAN Maritime Transport Working Group (MTWG) Meeting was held in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, from 6-8 May.
The workshop, held from 30 Oct - 2 Nov, was organised to reinvigorate the effort to operationalise the ASEAN MoU and implement the ROSCP.
A workshop to further the work to develop Cambodia's national oil spill contingency plan took place in Phnom Penh between 24-26 Oct. The workshop was organised under the under the auspices of GISEA, and assisted by the IMO through the Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP).

Spillcon is the Asia-Pacific oil spill conference, held every three years as part of the tri-conference circuit which includes Interspill in Europe and the International Oil Spill Conference, IOSC, in USA. The 2023 conference was held in Brisbane, from 11-15 Sep.
GISEA supported the Viet Nam Maritime Administration (Vinamarine) in the conduct of a national workshop on contingency planning, between 22 and 25 Aug.
GISEA participated in 14th CF, held in Singapore on 31 Jul - 1 Aug.
At the invite of the Directorate-General of Sea Transportation (DGST), GISEA observed the proceedings of the conference held on 25-26 Jul.
GISEA was invited to observe the 12th Thailand Oil and Chemical Response Exercise (TOC-EX 12) held in Bangkok on 18-19 Jul 2023. TOC-EX 12 follows the previous series of 'Thailand Oil Spill Response Exercise (TOREX)' which was disrupted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
GISEA, along with oil spill response industry representatives from OSRL and ITOPF, supported the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darusslam (MPABD) in the conduct of a national workshop on contingency planning between 16 and 18 May.

At the invite of PEMSEA, GISEA supported the delivery of a training workshop for the Littoral States of Cambodia, Thailand and Viet Nam on 6 Oct. GISEA also participated in the 15th Annual National Contact Points Meeting, held in tandem on 7 Oct.
With the support of ITOPF and the Marine Department of Thailand, GISEA hosted a webinar on oil spill preparedness and response on 28 Sep, focused on lessons learnt from the the 'Wakashio' and 'X-press Pearl' incidents.

The 42nd ASEAN Maritime Transport Working Group (MTWG) Meeting was held virtually on 9-10 Mar.
The event, held remotely on 16 Nov, sought to address policy, economic and technological perspectives on the protection of the marine environment, both internationally and in the national context. It was attended by participants from across a spectrum of ministries and agencies with responsibilities to manage marine pollution.
Following delays due to number of administrative challenges, the 'Remote Legal Assistance to ASEAN Member States on the Effective Implementation of IMO Conventions Relating to Oil Pollution and Liability and Compensation' was launched with a kick-off meeting and workshop on 20 Oct.

Working with the Gulf of Thailand Cooperation and Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL), GISEA jointly delivered the workshop, held remotely on 16-17 Sep.
Working with the PEMSEA Resource Facility, GISEA jointly delivered the remote workshop with Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL) on 9 Sep, to an audience comprising participants from countries in the Gulf of Thailand Cooperation.
At the invite of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), GISEA observed the proceedings of the conference, which saw participation from the coast guard units of Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan. The remote meeting was hosted by PCG on 30 Jun.
The International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC) is part of a triennial series of events which include Interspill in Europe and Spillcon in Asia-Pacific. Initially scheduled to be held in 2020, it was postponed, owing to restrictions which resulted from the COVID-19 Pandemic, and held as a fully virtual conference on May 10-14.
At the invite of PEMSEA, GISEA participated in the 14th Annual National Contact Points Meeting on 23 Apr.
The event, held face-to-face and online on 8 Mar, was attended by approximately 60 participants from the Ministry of Transportation, and other key ministries and agencies assigned with responsibilities to manage oil pollution.

Organised by the Myanmar Nautical Association (MNA), Maritime Conference Myanmar (MCM) 2019, the second in the series, was held in Yangon, on 6-7 Nov 2019, in conjunction with two parallel exhibition and seminars - Myanmar Marine Expo (MYANMEX) 2019 and Oil & Gas Myanmar (OGAM) 2019.
Organised by the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore, the biennial International Chemical and Oil Pollution Conference and Exhibition (ICOPCE) is the region’s forum which focuses on regulatory developments in marine pollution response, innovation and digitisation trends in the industry, and incident management strategy. The 2019 conference was held on 22-23 Oct.
GISEA participated in 12th CF and 44th TTEG Meeting, held in Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia, from 30 Sep to 3 Oct.
GISEA supported the ongoing effort by the Marine Department to update the National Oil Spill Contingency Plan (NOSCP) of Thailand, in the conduct of a national workshop between 24 and 27 Sep.
The Sub-regional 'Train-the-Trainer' workshop on the IMO OPRC Model Training Courses took place in Manilla, from 17 to 20 Sep.
The 38th ASEAN Maritime Transport Working Group (MTWG) Meeting was held in Singapore, from 21 - 23 Aug. Updates on GISEA activities were provided by the IMO.
The workshop was held at the Maritime Transport Training Institute (MATRAIN) in Port Klang, Malaysia, from 19-21 Aug. This was immediately followed by the first meeting of the ROSCP Committee on 22 Aug.
GISEA supported the Department of Marine Administration (DMA) in the conduct of a workshop on environmental sensitivity mapping, on 14 and 15 Aug.
GISEA supported the Merchant Marine Department in the conduct of a national workshop on contingency planning, between 6 and 9 Aug. This was the second workshop conducted under the auspices of GISEA, assisted by the IMO through the Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP), and ITOPF.
GISEA was invited to observe the table-top component of the 11th Thailand Oil Spill Response Exercise (TOREX 11) held in Bangkok, from 10-12 Jul 2019. TOREX 11 is part of the National Crisis Management Exercise, CMEX 19.
At the invite of the Philippine Coast Guard, GISEA observed the conduct of MARPOLEX 2019, and its associated activities, held in Davao, from 1 - 5 Jul. GISEA also supported the delivery of a seminar encompassing topics on shoreline assessment, and liability and compensation.

The East Asian Seas Congress hosted by Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) was held from 27-30 November 2018 in Iloilo Philippines.
GISEA supports the Department of Marine Administration (DMA) in their national capacity building activities for finalisation of the National Contingency Plan for Marine Environment (NCP).
The Department of Marine Administration (DMA), with support from IMO, GI SEA and the Norwegian Coast Guard (NCA) organised an OPRC IMO L3 training from 12-14th November 2018 at Yangon, Myanmar.

GISEA was invited as an observer to the 10th Thailand Oil Spill Response Exercise held in Chonburi, Thailand from 23-25 May 2018. Thailand. This event is conducted annually lead by the Marine Department with support with support from Ministry of Transport, Royal Thai Navy, Oil Industry Environmental Safety Group Association (IESG), Pollution Control Department (PCD) and Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Department Agency (GISTDA) in accordance to the requirement of their National Plan.

GISEA attended the 34th ASEAN Maritime Transport Working Group (MTWG) Meeting that was held from the 19th to 21st of September in Bohol, Philippines.
GISEA is pleased to be the dialogue partner to the National Task Force for development of the Myanmar National Oil Spill Contingency Plan.
The Ministry of Transport (MoT) and Marine Department (MARDEP) of Malaysia hosted the ASEAN Regional IMO OPRC Level 3 Workshop. The 5-day Workshop (July 30 - August 4) was held at the MATRAIN facility of the Marine Department in Klang, Malaysia with field visits to the PIMMAG (Petroleum Industry of Malaysia Mutual Aid Group) Base in Port Dickson and at Senai Airport in Johor where the participants viewed the OSRL (Oil Spill Response Limited) C-130 dispersant spray aircraft. The Workshop was facilitated by experts from PIMMAG.
The triennial IOSC contributes to and enables a culture of preparedness within the oil spill response community, the broader field of incident management, and society as a whole. The 2017 IOSC was held in Long Beach, California from May 15-18, 2017.

GISEA was invited by the Department of Marine Administration (DMA) of the government of Myanmar to be an observer in the recently concluded Yangon River Oil Spill Contingency Plan (YROSCP) Tabletop Exercise in Yangon.
The International Chemical and Oil Pollution Conference and Exhibition (ICOPCE) was held at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore from 25-28th April 2017. Held in conjunction with Singapore Maritime Week 2017, the theme of the conference was "Keeping Pact with A New Era in Marine Environment Protection".

PEMSEA organised the Training Workshop on Developing the Subregional Oil Spil Contingency Plan and Guidelines in the Use of Chemical Dispersants in the Gulf of Thailand held from 22-24th November 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand. GISEA supported by providing technical experts on the relevant topics.
The 32nd Maritime Transport Working Group (MTWG) meeting was held on 18-20th October 2016 at Bohol, Philippines.
GISEA was invited to attend the 9th Co-operative Forum held on the 26th-27th September 2016 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The forum was held in conjunction with the 41st Tripartite Technical Experts Group meeting for Straits of Malacca and Singapore.
The Philippine Coast Guard organised the National Oil Spill Response Planning Workshop in Manilla from 28 to 29 July 2016. GISEA through IPIECA supported PCG in this workshop.
International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and Department of Marine Administration (DMA) of Myanmar, with the cooperation from The International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation Limited (ITOPF) organised a workshop from 25 to 29 April 2016 to initiate the development of a draft Oil Spill Contingency Plan for the Yangon River Area and a National Oil Spill Contingency Plan for Myanmar.
GISEA attended the 31st ASEAN Maritime Transport Working Group (MTWG) meeting held on 6-8 April 2016 at Boracay, Philippines.
This workshop was held on 29 September – 2 October 2015, hosted by the Maritime and Port Authority Academy and Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-organized by IMO and the Government of Singapore (represented by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Academy) and the Technical Cooperation Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the Singapore-IMO Third Country Training Programme.
GISEA organised a seminar on National Oil Spill Contingency Planning at Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 15 to 19 June 2015.
The triennial Interspill Conference was held at Amsterdam from 23-26th March 2015. GISEA attends the 29th Maritime Transport Working Group (MTWG) Meeting held on 10-13th February 2015 at Sihanoukville, Cambodia. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia.
This event was held on 17th to 19th December 2014 hosted by Marine Department and Ministry of Transport, Malaysia. The event was organised by the Global Initiative of Southeast Asia (GISEA) and the IMO (International Maritime Organization), in collaboration with the Marine Department of Malaysia.

GISEA and the IMO organised the National Workshop for the revision and update of the National Oil Spill contingency Plan of the Philippines in collaboration with the Philippines Coast Guard (PCG) from 30 September to 1 October 2014.

The 7th Sub-Regional Meeting on the Implementation of the Framework Programme for Joint Oil spill Preparedness and Response in the Gulf of Thailand and Sub-regional Integration workshop on ESI Mapping in the Gulf of Thailand is held in Phuket, Thailand from August 5th to 7th, 2013.
